Over 50% of Estonia is forested and over 30% of its economic output is related to the bio-economy.
High-quality natural resources, centuries-old traditions and ultra-high use of modern technologies place Estonia at the cutting-edge of timber housing solutions and in 2016 Estonia was Europe’s largest exporter of wooden modular homes.
In parallel, Ireland is implementing the Rebuilding Ireland Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness, which seeks to improve the number and quality of housing stock across the country in the coming years. Affordability, speed and sustainability requirements make wooden modular homes the natural choice.
IEBN and its members are actively supporting collaboration between Ireland and Estonia in this sector, including market intelligence, business networking and trade missions.
